This is the organizing website for the CAP Aviation Club at NJIT sponsored by the Edward J. Myzie Squadron at NJIT ("Squadron"), New Jersey Wing, Civil Air Patrol, United States Air Force Auxiliary. The CAP Squadron will provide training opportunities to the CAP Aviation Club.

Students have organized the CAP Aviation Club ("Club") in accordance with NJIT Student Senate rules and the Club's Charter was approved by the Student Senate on 11 December 2019.

NJIT students, faculty and staff may be added to this Moodle Course to follow the activities of the Club and the Squadron. 

Membership in the Club is free and open to all NJIT Students and students from other universities who are participating with Detachment 490 Air Force ROTC at NJIT.

CAP membership is not required to participate with the Club. Students, Faculty and Staff may want to join Civil Air Patrol as a member, and there are several CAP Membership options: (all forms and links available on Moodle)

Faculty Members may Join CAP as Aerospace Education Members for a one time fee of $35. Apply on line.

Adults 18 and older may join CAP as Senior Members and may earn officer rank and train in operational specialties and emergency services qualifications. Membership dues are $65 annually. Apply on CAP Form 12

Current or previous CAP Cadet Members may transfer into the squadron remain a Cadet until reaching the age of 21. Membership dues are $45 annually. 

ROTC Cadets may join CAP as Senior or Cadet Members consistent with the description above.

All adult members of CAP are screened by the FBI using a fingerprint card which can be filled with the assistance of the NJIT Police Department. Applicants must use the CAP supplied cards available from the Squadron Commander or the NJIT Public Safety Office.

The Club and the Squadron will hold joint meetings beginning in the Spring 2020 Semester. Tentatively, we will hold a meeting every week on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm (8pm as required) in the Central King Building Auditorium where we plan to practice flying UAV drones in a controlled environment. Other meetings may be held at different times and locations and will be posted in the Announcements.
